Software in Construction Show 2019
On Tuesday 25th June, Open ECX exhibited at the first Software in Construction show, an event dedicated to attracting professionals interested in the construction management software market, situated at Derby Arena, an indoor velodrome. The show brought together a full range of productivity enhancing software in a rapidly growing industry. Situated amongst major ERP suppliers, Open ECX’s stand took prime position opposite the theatre where there was a series of presentations from thought leaders in the industry, including Open ECX’s founder, Matthew Jones.
Focusing on ‘Efficient payment control and putting a stop to ‘smash-and-grab’ applications’, Matthew discussed the pressures the construction industry are currently facing, both internal and external, and the opportunities all businesses have to reduce the pressures by successfully managing risks and reducing the costs of lengthy processes.
Matthew also revealed Open ECX’s construction community research, revealing the top issues that the industry is currently facing, two of which were transparency and paperwork. WebContractor works with businesses to resolve these key issues, ensuring there is complete visibility, efficient payment control and full compliance across the company.
At the end of the presentation, Matthew left the audience with something to take away… ‘a business operating on a 2% margin would have to win a £2.5m contract each year to secure £50k profit… it would not be difficult for an investment into WebContractor to deliver that, and more… year-on-year.’
Reflecting on the show, it’s clear that there is a huge potential growth area for construction management software. There needs to be more of a drive towards educating the market on what software solutions are available for everyone across the supply chain and why it is becoming more essential for businesses to invest and adopt the solutions. From design to project management software, electronic ordering and invoicing to cloud-based solutions such as WebContractor, the opportunities to implement technology within the industry are virtually endless.
