Software Developer

Reports To

Line Manager (Senior Developer or Development Manager/Director)

Purpose of the job
  • To develop and maintain software products that will generate revenue for the business
  • To resolve technical issues with software products
  • To undertake enhancements to software products and release new versions
Functions of the job
  • Evaluate customer and user requirements
  • Produce specifications, flow diagrams, mock-ups and prototypes
  • Liaise with Line Manager to determine tasks, objectives and timescales
  • Liaise with Designer to determine screen layouts, styles and formatting
  • Write code to meet agreed objectives, specifications and mock-ups
  • Work with the team to develop core skills and languages
  • Use the company’s source code control system (SVN)
  • Adhere to the company’s development and quality standards and style conventions
  • Perform component and end-to-end testing of developed code
  • Produce software technical documentation
  • Release versions of software using the build and release control systems
  • Update hosting environments with new versions of software
  • Learn new skills, technologies and languages as required to develop products
  • Any other tasks reasonably required by management


  • Ability to work in a logical manner and apply problem solving methodologies
  • Good priority and time management

  • A quality approach to work
  • 1+ years’ experience of software development in a commercial environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised to tight deadlines
  • Ability to client face and communicate appropriately
  • Understanding of C#
  • Experience of using Visual Studio, SVN, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, IIS


  • Higher qualification in computing or a related subject
  • Experience in xUnit, Entity Framework, KnockOutJS and SammyJS libraries
  • B2B Integration experience
  • ASP.NET, MVC with JQuery, HTML, CSS, SQL
